Faculty of Maritime 

Established by the Council of Ministers’ decision dated December 11, 2009, and published in the Official Gazette No. 27449 on December 31, 2009, the Maritime Faculty attained its current institutional identity in 2015 with the foundation of our University.

Aiming to address national and international issues and needs in the maritime sector, our Faculty has made significant progress in a short time in terms of human resources and technical infrastructure. To support research, development, and educational activities, the following laboratories and simulators have been established and put into service:

Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, which constitutes the foundation of our University, was established under Law No. 3897 on July 3, 1992, as the Bandırma Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, affiliated with Balıkesir University.

Throughout their education, our students are equipped with both theoretical and technical knowledge. With the support of our qualified academic staff, we strive to ensure that they reach a level where they can contribute effectively to the regional and national economy through university–industry collaboration with our local stakeholders.

The Faculty commenced its educational activities on October 18, 1993, with the Departments of Economics and Business Administration, and today it comprises seven departments and ten active undergraduate programs.

Faculty of Communication

The Faculty of Communication at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University was established by the Presidential Decree No. 7477, published in the Official Gazette No. 32269 on August 4, 2023. Previously operating under the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Departments of Public Relations and Advertising and New Media and Communication were incorporated into the Faculty of Communication as of July 2024.

Our Faculty aims to educate students who are equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of communication and who can contribute to the regional and national economy through university–industry collaboration.

Faculty of Theology

Our Faculty was established as the Faculty of Islamic Sciences on February 6, 2021, and was renamed the Faculty of Theology by the decision published in the Official Gazette on August 2, 2024.

The Faculty continues its academic activities with the mission of educating graduates who possess a comprehensive command of the primary sources of Islamic Sciences in their original languages, as well as the linguistic, conceptual, and terminological competence necessary to analyze and understand the theological, jurisprudential, and ethical interpretations derived from these sources.

Our programs aim to cultivate individuals who are well-versed in the scholarly, intellectual, literary, and artistic heritage of the past, while also being aware of contemporary philosophical, intellectual, literary, and artistic movements. The Faculty seeks to train students capable of integrating the wisdom of tradition with modern and future-oriented perspectives, thereby contributing to both academic scholarship and the broader cultural understanding of Islamic thought.

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was established within Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University by the decision of the Council of Ministers dated March 13, 2017, published in the Official Gazette No. 30113 on July 3, 2017.

True to its name, our Faculty focuses on disciplines that directly engage with human beings and society. The departments within the Faculty conduct research and projects that emphasize the exploration and evaluation of the historical, geographical, artistic, and cultural values of Bandırma and its surrounding region.

Adopting an interdisciplinary and social sciences–based approach, the Faculty develops projects and carries out research aimed at producing solutions to regional issues. Furthermore, through seminars, conferences, and cultural events on history, literature, art, and culture, the Faculty plays a leading role in fostering an environment shaped by the perspective of the social sciences.

The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences was established within Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University by the decision of the Council of Ministers dated March 13, 2017, published in the Official Gazette No. 30113 on July 3, 2017.

Our Faculty aims to educate individuals who can respond to the needs of our country, who are objective, productive, innovative, and entrepreneurial. With the vision of becoming a nationally and internationally recognized center for research and education that generates knowledge and technology, the Faculty is committed to training engineers who are competitive at the international level, capable of developing solutions to social challenges, and respectful of universal values.

In line with this mission, the Faculty strives to produce and disseminate knowledge and technologies required by both national and international communities, contributing to scientific advancement and sustainable development.

Ömer Seyfettin Faculty of Applied Sciences

The Ömer Seyfettin Faculty of Applied Sciences was established under Law No. 6640, published in the Official Gazette No. 29335 on April 23, 2015, as part of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University.

The primary aim of our Faculty is to equip students with comprehensive professional knowledge and to cultivate individuals who can think independently, conduct research, make sound decisions, and contribute to society as creative and modern citizens.

Located in Bandırma, a city characterized by its dynamic port, trade, and logistics sectors, our Faculty benefits greatly from the active support of public and private sector representatives, which provides a significant advantage in achieving our institutional goals.

According to the National Ranking of State Universities and Faculties (2020), in the category of “Faculties/Schools of Applied Sciences”, our Faculty was recognized as the best faculty in its field in Türkiye.

Faculty of Health Sciences

The Faculty of Health Sciences was originally established as the Bandırma School of Health under Balıkesir University by the Council of Ministers’ Decision No. 96/8655, dated October 10, 1996, and began its educational activities under this name. Initially offering only one program — Nursing — the School was transformed into a Faculty in 2015, with the foundation of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, and was renamed the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Guided by up-to-date knowledge and contemporary technologies, our Faculty embraces an educational philosophy that fosters inquisitive minds and aims for excellence. It envisions training healthcare professionals who can meet the evolving needs of our country through a modern and dynamic approach to education.

The Faculty’s mission is to educate competent, skilled, and socially responsible healthcare professionals who respect academic and cultural values, adopt innovative and entrepreneurial thinking, uphold ethical principles, and demonstrate strong social awareness. Our goal is to raise future healthcare leaders who will play a pioneering role both nationally and internationally in the field of health sciences.

Vocational School of Health Services

The Vocational School of Health Services was established on April 20, 2017, alongside the Faculty of Health Sciences, with the aim of training qualified human resources in the field of health. Equipped with modern classrooms, laboratories, and a competent academic staff, our School provides the necessary infrastructure to educate skilled professionals who can meet the growing needs of the healthcare sector.

The School implements a 3+1 workplace-based education model, in which students complete three semesters of theoretical and practical coursework, followed by one semester of on-the-job training. This model allows students to gain early professional experience and become familiar with the healthcare industry before graduation.

Adopting a quality-oriented approach to health education, our Vocational School aims to train individuals who can follow innovations and changes in the field, transfer best practices, and enhance or sustain the quality of healthcare services through the knowledge, skills, and competencies they acquire.

The curriculum has been carefully designed to provide both diverse specialization opportunities and a balanced combination of theoretical and practical courses, enabling students to adapt effectively to professional life and to contribute to the development of the healthcare sector.

Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture

The Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture was originally established as the Faculty of Architecture and Design in 2019 and began admitting students to the Department of Graphic Design in the 2021–2022 academic year. Following a Presidential Decree, the Faculty was renamed the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, under which it continues its academic and educational activities.

Our Faculty embraces the mission of training creative designers who can produce original and distinctive works that harmonize technology and art, and who are capable of offering innovative design solutions to both national and global markets. By collaborating with national and international institutions and organizations, the Faculty aims to cultivate individuals who can create designs that synthesize form, color, material, structure, and function in ways that reflect their unique artistic vision.

The Faculty strives to educate productive, confident, and collaborative designers who respect historical, cultural, and artistic values, possess a strong sense of vision, and are capable of integrating creativity with functionality. In addition to training professional designers, the Faculty also prepares students to pursue teaching careers, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and qualifications required to become competent and fulfilled educators in the field of art and design.

Faculty of Sport Sciences

The Faculty of Sport Sciences was established by the Council of Ministers’ Decision No. 2018/11209, published in the Official Gazette on February 16, 2018. Beginning with the 2021–2022 academic year, the Faculty started admitting students to the Departments of Coaching Education and Physical Education and Sports Teaching.

Our Faculty aims to train professionals who contribute to the development of Turkish sports and play a leading role in shaping its future — including coaches, physical education teachers, sports managers, academicians, and referees.

Within the Faculty, the BANÜ Sports Valley provides state-of-the-art facilities for education, research, and training. It includes a 3,500-seat indoor sports hall, a semi-Olympic indoor swimming pool, as well as indoor and outdoor sports fields and a stadium. These facilities create an ideal environment for both academic learning and athletic excellence.

Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine was established by the Presidential Decree No. 2654, published in the Official Gazette on June 16, 2020, and began admitting students in the 2020–2021 academic year.

In accordance with the affiliation protocol signed between the Ministry of Health and the Rectorate of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, the academic staff of our Faculty provide diagnosis and treatment services at the Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Training and Research Hospital.

BANDIRMA & MARITIME VOCATIONAL SCHOOL CAMPUS

Bandırma Vocational School

The Bandırma Vocational School was established in 1992 under Balıkesir University and has been continuing its educational activities within Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University since April 23, 2015.

One of the most significant functions of our School is to train qualified intermediate staff in professional fields needed by our country and to support the industry through the use of its laboratories within the framework of university–industry collaboration.

With its strong academic and administrative staff and well-equipped workshop and laboratory infrastructure, our School effectively utilizes its existing resources and implements its strategic development plans to ensure that all activities are carried out efficiently in line with its principles and objectives.

The 3+1 workplace-based education model is applied at our School. Within this model, students complete three semesters of theoretical and practical coursework, and those who meet the necessary requirements spend their final semester receiving workplace training, thereby gaining early professional experience in their respective sectors.

Maritime Vocational School

The Maritime Vocational School was established on December 29, 2018, and began admitting students in the 2019–2020 academic year with the Shipbuilding Program under the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies, transferred from Bandırma Vocational School along with its students and academic staff.

Located on the same campus as Bandırma Vocational School, our School offers associate degree programs in Shipbuilding, Underwater Technology, and Maritime and Port Management, supported by a strong technical infrastructure.

To enhance the employability of its students, our School applies the 3+1 workplace-based education model. Within this model, students complete three semesters of theoretical and practical coursework, and those meeting the necessary requirements continue their final semester with workplace training. This approach allows students to integrate their theoretical knowledge with practical skills, providing them with valuable professional experience before graduation.

GÖNEN VOCATIONAL SCHOOL CAMPUS

The Gönen Vocational School was established in 1994 and was affiliated with Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University in 2015, following its separation from Balıkesir University.

With its experienced and dynamic academic and administrative staff, the School aims to train qualified vocational and technical professionals who can work effectively in the industrial and service sectors of our country. Our mission is to educate individuals who possess a strong sense of responsibility and ethical values, are diligent, inquisitive, and well-equipped with modern education and information technologies, and who can create awareness and enhance productivity in their workplaces.

Providing a modern and well-equipped learning environment, Gönen Vocational School offers renovated classrooms with smart boards, projection systems, and three state-of-the-art computer laboratories (including one equipped with IMAC systems). The School also features tourism practice laboratories, maker laboratories, natural gas and HVAC laboratories, design laboratories, and installation and natural gas workshops, all designed to support hands-on training.

The School applies the 3+1 workplace-based education model, enabling students to complete three semesters of theoretical and practical courses, followed by a final semester of workplace training for those who meet the necessary requirements. This model allows students to integrate theoretical knowledge with professional practice, gaining valuable experience before entering the workforce.

MANYAS VOCATIONAL SCHOOL CAMPUS

Manyas Vocational School

The Manyas Vocational School was established in 2008 under Balıkesir University and began admitting students in the 2010–2011 academic year. In 2015, the School became affiliated with Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University.

With its strong academic and administrative staff and well-developed infrastructure, the School currently offers 8 departments and 10 programs. Manyas Vocational School commenced its educational activities with the vision of becoming a distinguished institution that contributes to the prosperity of Manyas and the surrounding region, embraces universal values, and fosters a collaborative and inclusive institutional culture among its staff and students.

In line with this vision, the School aims to educate qualified vocational professionals and technicians who are equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge, capable of taking responsibility in professional life, and open to innovation and continuous development.

The medium of instruction is Turkish, and the duration of study is two years. The School implements the 3+1 workplace-based education model, where students complete three semesters of theoretical and practical courses and spend their final semester receiving hands-on training in the workplace, allowing them to combine theoretical knowledge with real-world professional experience.

ERDEK VOCATION SCHOOL CAMPUS

Erdek Vocational School

The Erdek Vocational School began its educational activities in the 1994–1995 academic year with 60 students. In 2015, it became affiliated with Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University following its separation from Balıkesir University.

Located in the Erdek Camps Area, one of the most popular destinations for both domestic and international tourists with its rich history and natural beauty, our School also operates a Training Hotel situated by the seaside.

Erdek Vocational School aims to educate well-equipped, innovative, and skilled professionals and managers who are passionate about their professions and capable of contributing to the tourism and service sectors.

The School implements the 3+1 workplace-based education model to enhance the employability of its students. Within this model, students complete three semesters of formal theoretical and practical courses, followed by one semester of workplace training in relevant businesses, allowing them to integrate theoretical knowledge with professional experience.

SUSURLUK VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY CAMPUS

Susurluk Vocational School of Agriculture and Forestry

The Susurluk Vocational School of Agriculture and Forestry began its educational activities in the 2000–2001 academic year under Balıkesir University and became affiliated with Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University in 2020. The School was renamed the Susurluk Vocational School of Agriculture and Forestry in 2022.

Our School aims to train qualified and skilled professionals who are open to continuous development, respectful of universal values, and capable of meeting the needs of the business world through the effective implementation of university–industry collaboration in Türkiye.

The School is equipped with several modern laboratories, including microbiology and milk analysis laboratories, a computer laboratory, and three additional specialized laboratories designed to support practical education.

The 3+1 workplace-based education model is implemented to strengthen students’ professional skills. Within this model, students complete three semesters of theoretical and practical courses, followed by one semester of workplace training, enabling them to gain hands-on experience in their fields and to combine theoretical knowledge with real-world practice.

HÜSEYİN AVNİ KOCAMAN MARINE SCIENCE CENTER

Located within the Maritime Faculty Education and Training Campus in Edincik, the Hüseyin Avni Kocaman Marine Science Center was inaugurated in May 2022. The Center houses the Marine Science Gallery, the Marmara Aquarium, the Maritime and Fisheries Museum, and the Water Sports Center, aiming to become Türkiye’s first comprehensive marine science center.

Situated on a 32-decare coastal area in Edincik, the campus includes 1,400 square meters of indoor facilities. The buildings were constructed and donated by the Kocaman family and allocated to our University. The establishment of the Center was also supported by Marmara Islands Municipality, Kale Group, and the Turkish Naval Forces.

The Hüseyin Avni Kocaman Marine Science Center, located within the Maritime Faculty Education and Training Campus, not only provides a practical learning environment for our students’ applied courses, but is also open to visitors, offering the public an opportunity to explore the richness of marine science and maritime culture.
