Message by Our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz on the Anniversary of the Passing of Mehmet Âkif Ersoy

We commemorate Mehmet Âkif Ersoy, the poet of our National Anthem and the powerful voice of our nation’s struggle for independence and faith, with respect, mercy, and gratitude on the anniversary of his passing.

Mehmet Âkif Ersoy represented the conscience of our nation through his pen and embodied moral responsibility through his stance, keeping hope, unity, and solidarity alive during the most challenging times. He was not only a poet, but also a great intellectual and a man of struggle whose values continue to illuminate our present day.

On this occasion, I once again remember Mehmet Âkif Ersoy with mercy and emphasize our responsibility to pass on to future generations the spirit of independence and national consciousness that he entrusted to us.
