A conference titled “The Lost Geography: Our Bleeding Wound East Turkistan” was organized by the Academic Development and Thought Society at our university.

The event took place at the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall and featured author Abdullah Oğuz as the guest speaker. The program was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Theology Prof. Dr. Abdullah Hikmet Atan, President of the Bandırma Non-Governmental Organizations Platform Kanver Şener, along with academic and administrative staff, students, and local residents.

In his speech, Abdullah Oğuz spoke about the historical and cultural identity of East Turkistan, the region’s significance for the Turkic world, and the human rights violations taking place there today. He drew attention to issues such as identity, freedom of belief, cultural assimilation, and restrictions on education and communication, underlining the need for greater international awareness and sensitivity on the matter. Oğuz also emphasized that the problems faced in East Turkistan are not only regional concerns but also universal issues for humanity.
