Dean Handover Ceremony Held at the Faculty of Maritime Studies

A dean handover ceremony was held at the Faculty of Maritime Studies, one of the long-established academic units of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University. Prof. Dr. Celil Aydın formally transferred the position of Dean to Prof. Dr. Alper Kılıç.

The ceremony, hosted at the Rectorate, was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz; Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Serel, Prof. Dr. Ebru Kaya Mutlu, and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erçakar; and Acting Secretary General Mustafa Işkın.

Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz expressed his sincere appreciation to Prof. Dr. Celil Aydın for his dedicated service and valuable contributions to the Faculty of Maritime Studies, and wished him continued success in his academic endeavors. Congratulating Prof. Dr. Alper Kılıç on assuming the deanship, the Rector conveyed his confidence that the Faculty will advance to even greater achievements under his leadership and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure.

Prof. Dr. Alper Kılıç

Prof. Dr. Alper Kılıç completed his undergraduate studies in 2000 at İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Faculty of Maritime Studies, Department of Marine Engineering Operations. He continued his academic career at the same institution, earning his master’s degree in Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering in 2007 and his Ph.D. in 2014. In addition, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from İstanbul Üniversitesi and a master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety from Eskişehir Osmangazi Üniversitesi.

Prof. Dr. Kılıç’s research focuses primarily on marine environmental protection, maritime safety, and sustainable maritime technologies. He has authored numerous articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as books and scientific projects. He has served as an expert and consultant in TÜBİTAK-funded projects titled “Development of the National Air Pollution Emission Management System” and in international COST Actions addressing the decarbonization of maritime transport.

Within Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, Prof. Dr. Kılıç has held several academic and administrative positions, including Vice Dean, Head of Department, Director of Information Technologies, and Coordinator of the Faculty Development Program (ÖYP). He was awarded the title of Professor in early 2023 and continues to contribute to the scientific community in the field of maritime studies through his academic and administrative work.
