Our Rector Participated in the "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day" Commemorative Programs Held in Bandırma

On the 6th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, 2016, commemorative events were held under the auspices of Bandırma District Governor's Office, "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day". Within the scope of the events, the first ceremony was held in Bandırma Martyrs' Cemetery. Representing our university, our Rector Prof. Dr. Süleyman Özdemir attended the ceremony, Bandırma District Governor Engin Aksakal, Garrison and 6th Main Jet Base Commander Air Pilot Brigadier General Selahattin Akalp, Deputy Mayor İsmail Ay, Deputy Attorney General Baray Tütüncü, Police Chief Soner Duran, District Gendarme Commander Gendarmerie Major Mahir Mavi, political Representatives of parties and non-governmental organizations, families of veterans and martyrs and citizens attended. In the program held in Bandırma Martyrs' Cemetery, the Quran was recited for the martyrs and flowers were left on the graves of the martyrs.
After the ceremony at the cemetery, the opening of the photography exhibition themed "For the Love of Turkey for the Sake of the National Will" organized by our University at the Barış Manço Cultural Center was opened by our Rector Prof. Dr. Süleyman Özdemir, Bandırma District Governor Engin Aksakal and the ribbon cutting of the district protocol. The daytime programs organized within the scope of the event ended with the Mevlid-i Şerif and hatim prayer at the Old Garage Mosque.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Süleyman Özdemir also attended the evening democracy watch in Bandırma Cumhuriyet Square as part of the "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day" program. The program started with the participation of Bandırma District Governor Engin Aksakal, the district protocol and citizens, with a moment of silence and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem, with a cine-vision show, speeches based on the meaning and importance of the day, a mehteran concert and a recital of heroic folk songs. In the program, the Head of the Turkish Language Department of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Assoc. Dr. Bahtiyar Aslan made a presentation on “July 15 and Mankurts”.
The "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day" programs came to an end at 00.13 with the reading of the greetings.
